Her cane tapping the floor left, right, left, right Hannah entered the wand shop while her step-mum Sarah, held the door open. Hannah's nostrils were quickly filled with a slightly damp smell from the old floor boards creaking sharply beneath her feet. "'t's all right dear." Sarah said squeezing one of her shoulders lightly. "Mr. Ollivander doesn't bite." Nodding Hannah stepped further into the store dust round about her made her nose and face itch terribly.

"H-hullo, Mr. Ollivander?" Hannah asked softly.

"Why hello!" came a friendly voice as a man with curly brown mop-top hair poked his head out from behind a bookshelf ladened with wands. "And how may I help you fine ladies this morning?" he asked approaching them, hands resting lazily in the pockets of his slacks.

"Oh, hello." Hannah smiled turning towards his voice, it was still fair with youth yet had the same lilting undertone Hannah had noticed most adults possessed. It was likely due to the hardships and disappointments one acquires over the years, or so she theorized. Nerves gripped her tightly in an instant, she still wasn't exactly sure what they were doing. Gripping her cane tightly for reassurance she opened her mouth to say something pretty stupid, but Sarah interceded on her behalf. A thing for which Hannah was very grateful.

"We're here to get Hannah her first wand!" she cheerily explained her voice high, clear and confidant as she gave Hannah's shoulder another squeeze. Hannah smiled nodding slightly.

Alexander was taken aback when he noticed the child was blind. He looked over her nervous expression, she held her cane tightly against her against her chest. He felt guilty as he pondered how she was going to manage. He could imagine her transfiguring classmates with a careless or misguided flick of her wand, falling off the moving stairs, or even knocking a potion set at a rolling boil over her lap. The girl's mother seemed to hear his thoughts as her eyes narrowed dangerously at him, he cleared his throat as a hand came to rest on her hip. "Ah, yes!" he smiled. "I was in apprenticeship when your mum here got her first wand." he smiled to the girl, then he felt a tad awkward about that.

"Eleven inch, Yew, Unicorn tail hair right?" he guessed as he began to pull several boxes from the shelf.

Hannah felt Sarah shake her head, the movement rocking her slightly where Sarah held her shoulder. "Twelve inch, Yew, dragon heartstring." she said. Hannah's brows furrowed as she turned her face towards her step-mum, what was a dragon heartstring? She felt a bit more sure of herself when she caught a whiff off her rose, orchid perfume. She decided that the question could wait until later and turned back to the man who she could hear rifling through somethings. What ever he was doing it was kicking up dust and Hannah had to press a finger tight against her nose to keep from sneezing.

Alexander smiled slightly at Sarah as he scattered several long boxes on his table to their left. "Can't always get it right!" Then, looking very decidedly at the boxes he reached for one and opened it. He pulled out a pale brown wand and declared to the ladies, "Eleven inch, Willow, Unicorn tale hair, very whippy!" Striding over to the girl he held it out to her and then realized she wouldn't see that. "H-here!" he said reaching out and taking he hand he led it to the wand.

Hannah felt the long shaft in her hand for several moments. The wood was soft and smelt of polish, there was a grouping of ornate circles that stretched the length of the handle. Holding it lightly in her right hand she turned her face towards Sarah. "Like this?" she asked nervously.

"Just a bit tighter luv." the woman replied her hand gently squeezing Hannah's to the right amount of pressure. Holding her breath Hannah gave the wand a flick, she wasn't sure if anything was meant to happen, or if it did and she just hadn't seen it but she couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed in herself.
