A Few Days (closed) Empty
PostSubject: A Few Days (closed)   A Few Days (closed) EmptyTue Apr 03, 2012 7:22 am

Over all, the week of returning was a complete disaster. While Friday and Saturday had been nice enough meeting new people and getting readjusted, Sunday he saw Pyxis, Monday there was that disaster at the lake, Tuesday was Anne, and Thurday he'd had a small lunch with Pyxis. Parker's mind was all over the place, and the events on Sunday and Monday led him to the decision to get away for a few days. It was now late Friday night and after a second encounter with Anne, he was in a right rotten mood. He hated how terrible he'd been to Anne, but for some reason he couldn't help it, he was on frayed nerves. He also hated how drastically he acted with Pyxis. Not only his actions at the lake, but inviting her to lunch so quickly. He never acted to rash before, and he feared he may be like his mother, who after her divorce in his childhood had seemed to have been driven absolutely mad. He certainly felt like he was. He displayed the patterns like her. He didn't want it to be true. He had found out in his last year of school from his mother's diagnosis just what ran through his family. Though he'd deal with that soon. His first manner of business he needed to get done in the three days was to check on his apartment.

Living in the seediest place of his city, he had a feeling he'd need to check on the place every weekend once term started in order to keep up his security charms. As long as those were up it was easy enough to keep all the robbers at bay. With this being at the start of his trip, he'd not have to be as paranoid and worried when he visited the other placed he needed to. He apparated from Hogsmeade to a few blocks off from his apartment, since he knew a homeless man lived in the alley right near by and a seller was in another close by one. While the homeless man was crazy and it'd be a lot faster to get to home from there, he'd not chance it. He already had a warning for using magic in the presence of muggles from around the time he first moved there.

Parker pulled the hood up of his under jacket to cover over his face, and secured the buttons of his overcoat. He took a deep breath, double checking his pocket to make sure his shrunken down bag was in there. He straightened himself a bit as he walked out of the alley, keeping his eyes straight ahead. He kept his hands out of his pockets as that could seem threatening, and his hands were unclenched. He really hoped the shaking of his hands wasn't that noticeable. Even after living here so long, he knew he'd never get used to it. There was no way to tell when something would snap or when someone would jump out. Parker shuddered at the memories of times he'd been hooked from behind or the one time a group of three had cornered him.

Parker made sure he stayed completely still except for his footsteps which were not too fast or too slow, so as not to attract any attention. He just wanted to get to his house and at least get a couple hours of rest. A man walked opposite to him on the sidewalk, and Parker made sure to keep his eyes forward as they passed each other, even when the man had leaned over a bit and spat on Parker's shoes as he made some grumbled offensive comment under his breath. Parker just felt so tired. Of all of this. It was all just to much to take, and to deal with. As he neared his apartment complex, Parker could hear light footsteps that seemed quite a few paces behind him. Parker's breath caught, and he felt panic rise in his chest. He bit the inside of his cheek, closing his eyes a brief moment as he tired hard not to break out into a run. If it was the person that the news had been circulating about for a few weeks now, he just had to stay calm. Calm. Stay calm, he repeated as his complex came into view. He knew what they said about not going home if being followed but he couldn't be damned to care. He just wanted off the street.

He carefully pulled his key from his pocket, his breath growing heavy with panic. He reached the door of the complex his hand shaking terribly, now enveloped in panic as the steps came closer and seemed to speed up. After unlocking it, he pushed his weight into the door to unjam it. The heavy door swung open and Parker slipped in, catching a glimpse of the person walking past, seeming to have not even been paying attention to Parker. So he really wasn't being followed, just a person in passing...As he jammed the door closed again, he rested his back against the door, leaning his head back a bit, closing his eyes as his panic drifted away. His knees felt weak and he opened his eyes when another tenant was coming down the stairs with his son. He stood straight again and lowered his hood, drawing his eyes down as he walked over and up the stairs to his apartment.

He slipped his wand out from his jacket and unlocked the door, shoving it in with his shoulder and shutting/locking it with his wand once he stepped inside. He turned around and looked at the small room, at the old tattered furniture handed to him from his grandmother. He let out a breath that seemed to deflate him. He took out the shrunk bag from his pocket and once he's walked to his nearly bare room, he unshrunk it, setting it next to his bed. He took off his over coat and slipped off his shoes. He moved the blankets on his bed down and curled up in a ball, laying down and pulling the blankets up, not bothering to even change he felt so exhausted. He shut his eyes and let the sound of far off police sirens lull him to sleep.

Parker groaned as he woke up, light shining in from the thin blinds that covered the window, reflected in the mirror above the old dresser. He turned over onto his other side, staring at the window for a long time before deciding to get up. He stood and pulled his bag up onto the bed, unzipping it and pulling out a change of clothes. After changing he shoved his dirty trousers and shirt back into the bag, and slipped on his sweater, coat, and shoes again. He grabbed his wand from under his pillow and shrunk the bag again. He put it back in his pocket and looked around the room, walking over to the window, checking to make sure it was locked and charmed shut. He sighed and went to the open little kitchen area, his eyes roaming over to a large crack in the wall where an experimental potion had exploded and the vial cracked against the wall. He'd turned the room to more of a potion's room than a place to eat. He'd asked the landlady to turn off utilities except for water a long time ago, and it sure cut down expenses. After his television had been stolen there was really no point for it anyways. He could just magically light it, or heat it up if he really wanted to. He ran his hand over the crumbling drywall as he went over to the window and re-secured the charms there.

He then went to the door, jarring it open and then closing it again. His want barely peeked out of his sleeve at he secured the charm there. He then went across the hall to the land lady's apartment, asking if she could also turn the water off because he was going on a trip. He made his way down the stairs after her having agreed and he just sat on the stoop for a while. Now his next stop was to check on his mother, in his old neighborhood if she still even lived there. He'd not seen her since the summer before seventh year and he remembered their violent arguments between them of that time. How she would strike him, but he never dared to anything back except yell and threaten that he'd run away. While the divorce had been during fifth year, is was the next two that hit her the hardest. If his grandmother from his father's side hadn't helped them...he didn't know where he'd be. It was during that time too she was diagnosed with Bipolar...and it was when he discovered his grandfather on his mother's side was also a schizophrenic. It runs in the genes as they say...

He stood up, and walked to the alley way right next to the apartment complex, seeing that the homeless man was not there at the moment. He apparated down the block from his old home. He looked down the street, hearing children playing. He slowly began to walk, his hands resting in his pockets. He frowned at the memories or being bullied, chased, and beaten until he had finally fought back with them. The satisfaction was great, and that next summer seeing them again was the most surreal thing ever. It was almost as if they respected him and once they even convinced him to hang out with them. To say that year between the two incidences and that summer was a stereotypical time of rebellion would have been an understatement. Though another fight with them had ended that and they then wanted nothing to do with him.

The children he passed seemed weary of him, and he supposed he did look quite suspicious as cautiously approached his old home, passing right next to one of the kids. He ran the bell and waited a long moment, his head lowered. He rang it again, and a third time before a young looking woman answered it. He stared at her wide eyed. Where was his mother? "Does....does Kristin Emery still live here?" The woman's face lightened and she nodded before opening the door wider, and he felt whatever had been crushing his chest lift off as he stepped inside. It looked almost eerily the same. His mother was sitting on the couch and Parker walked in toward her. She stared at him as he came into her view, recognition immediate in her eyes as she reached her hands out to him. He knelt down and hugged her back tightly before pulling up one of the chairs to sit.

They talked for a long while about what had happened then and what was happening now in their lives, though she still wanted to hear nothing about the magical world and hardly listened to him explain his job. Parker stayed through lunch and dinner, almost not wanting to have to leave her again, despite how unwelcome he felt. She had invited him to stay the night and he agreed, not wanting to have to go back to his place. Back in his old room he could almost feel the negative energy that had manifested. He was almost shaking as all the feelings of his anger and bitterness seemed to fill him. He tried to shake it off and unshrunk his bag again. After changing he climbed into the too small bed and closed his eyes, taking a long time to fall asleep, suddenly feeling like he was twelve again.

A Few Days (closed) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Few Days (closed)   A Few Days (closed) EmptyThu May 10, 2012 9:53 am

Parker woke up early the next morning, his back cramped from the uncomfortable small bed. Yellow light was filtering in through the old, dusty window curtains. The room felt ice cold and he suspected the heater was broken. Actually, it might have been for years. He shivered as he pulled the blankets closer around himself, laying there for...who knows how long. He was finally driving out by the shivering that wouldn't let up and he quickly changed, layering up a bit. He sighed as he shrunk his trunk again, putting it in his coat pocket. He pulled up the collar of it, planning on leaving right away....though maybe he should write his mother something first for when she woke up. It was still dark out, so he suspected she'd not be. But he didn't want to be cut off from her again. He just really had the overwhelming feeling of needed to get out. An ever familiar feeling.

As he creeked open the door slowly and stepped out of his old room, he heard sounds. He closed the door, walking out to the kitchen, seeing his mother over the stove cooking. She never did that. and she was never up so early... He just stood there for a good few minutes watching, and hating. Why now? Was it an apology? For all the pancakes she'd put him through? He sighed, catching her attention as she looked up for a brief moment before looking back down to the stove. He slowly made his way to the counter top, sitting on one of the stools. As she cooked she kept her head lowered. She looked so thin, her skin sagged delicately on her face with fine wrinkles. Parker furrowed his eyebrows and looked down to his hands that were folded on the counter top. Her voice soft but broken sounding, drifted out to him. "So, you're leaving" though it didn't sound like a question. He thought back to the last fight where she screamed that, but added 'just like your father' to the end of it. He swallowed and nodded. "I have to. I have work to do." She just mm'd in response as she finished making up the two plates of food. She pushed one plate over to him, and then took the other seat at the counter.

They ate in silence, Parker really didn't have anything more to say to her. She didn't want to hear it either. He felt bad for just wanting to get out from this place with the intentions of never coming back again. He thought he should at least give her a way to communicate with him if she really needed it. But he also knew she'd be too stubborn to do that, but he'd write it down anyways. after finishing his food he stood, grabbing the little pad of paper she always kept near the sugar. He wrote down the address to which she could send it to and the one that would owl it to him for her. He pushed the paper to her and stood up straight, setting down the pen and putting his hands in his pockets. "If you ever need me." he said softly. Turning to walk out of the kitchen, making his way to the front door. He turned to look at her, wanting to say he was sorry for a brief moment. But stopped, as there was nothing he really needed to be sorry about. He sighed, "Goodbye..." before opening the door and walking out, closing it behind him. He started to walk down the driveway, when the woman he assumed to be her personal nurse pulled up. As she parked, he stood there on the grass lawn and watched her. As she got out of her car she eyed him suspiciously before walking into the house. He shook his head and then started walking down the sidewalk.

Getting to an empty alleyway away from prying eyes, he closed his and took in a deep breath, calming himself before disapparating. When he opened his eyes again, a gust of wind whipped through the air as he stood before a looming building. He was glad his apparation skills had gotten better over the years and he'd been able to make the distance without even the slightest irritation. People pushed passed him on the streets as he stood there still. Second busiest medical building in Wizarding London besides St. Mungo's. And out patient/office space of sorts. Mostly filled with shrinks and recovering addicts of all sorts of substances muggle and magical alike. Or, well... anything. He felt a bit uncomfortable, but he needed to talk with his...well, only other friend.

Walking in an up to the front desk he only got a glance or two. Some of those that worked there might recognize him and wonder why he was here, dressed and looking like the patients that were there. He cleared his throat, catching the attention of the girl sitting there. "I need to speak with Healer Keets, please." The woman gave his a weird look and he sighed, "Tell him Healer Emery is here to talk to him...now." he said, adding on the last part as an after thought. She raised her eyebrows at him, almost skeptically, but then went to send him a message anyway. Parker stood around for a bit while he waited, looking over at some of the people coming in an out. the woman behind the desk then called for him, motioning him over. She gave him the office number and pointed towards the elevators to which he then made his way to.
