| Rubi woke to the sound of her alarm clock, and groaned annoyed. Once again, she'd managed to set it too early. She looked over at Jamie, happy that her sister was still sleeping. Rubi leaned a bit over her, taking her alarm clock and turning it off. She could wake her when breakfast was ready. She figured that Jamie deserved that. Besides, it would make her owe Rubi. And this was of course the most important thing. Rubi had to smile a bit at her wicked scheme.
She then rose from her bed and walked down to the kitchen with her monkey-PJ's. She walked to the counter and put the frying pan on the oven, figuring she could make some egg and bacon. While the bacon fried, she sliced bread and put plates on the table. She didn't know why, but she was feeling exceptionally kind today. Maybe she was coming down with a fever or something? Rubi shrugged at her own thought. She then put the bacon in a bowl and started with the eggs. She frowned. She couldn't quite remember if Jamie wanted it fried on both sides, but she figured she'd do that, considering the bacteria roaming around at the moment.
When the eggs were done, she placed them in another bowl and put on a lid so the warmth wouldn't go away. She then walked back up to the bedroom the two of them shared and smiled at the funny position Jamie was lying in.
"Jamie, breakfast is ready," she said, softly poking her twin out of her sleep. |

| Jamie was in the midst of a perfectly good dream when the beeping started up, but she had stayed up late last night reading the book she was up to in the Tomorrow series, so she managed to continue sleeping throughout the beeping. Instead, her ride through the fields with an adorable boy that had striking green eyes was interrupted with the strange beeping, and the dream flipped upside down from there. The world went dark and their horses bolted away from something behind them. The sky had streaks of red through it.
There was a large, ugly monster with black oozing from holes in its skin. It had row upon row of razor sharp teeth, and billions of little eyes meshed together into one big one. It reached out its hand for them, black dripping and hanging off it, claws out-stretched. She whimpered and writhed in the empty bed, her eyes scrunched up as she breathed heavily. A bunch of in-coherent words escaped Jamie - she'd never been all that good at sleep talking - and her body settled into the strangest position. Finally, she was awoken by a poke to the side.
Jamie's eyes snapped open, pupils dilated as she breathed heavily. Her body recoiled from Rubi, before she managed to calm down enough to take in her surroundings and realised they were simply in their bedroom. She rested a hand over her heart and sat up to fast, the blood rushing to her head and making the room spin.
"Oh." She said, blinking as she got out of the bed with a tired yawn. "Did you make it?" She asked, bewildered. |

| Rubi frowned lightly when Jamie woke up. It was clear that Jamie had just had a nightmare. Rubi didn't like it when Jamie had nightmares, she always looked so scared afterwards. And a scared Jamie... Well, Rubi was overprotective, and nightmares didn't help the matter.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly.
She straightened up when Jamie got out of bed, and studied her twin. She looked the same as usual, with exception of the slightly more frightened look. Then Rubi narrowed her eyes playfully.
"What? Afraid I poisoned it? Come on, it could get cold," she said, grabbing Jamie's wrist and pulling her downstairs to the kitchen.
"Ta-daaa!" Rubi said, her arms flying open, introducing the delicious-looking food. |

| Jamie sighed, she knew Rubi would realise she'd had a nightmare but she'd hoped that Rubi was sick or something - as she'd made breakfast! - and wouldn't notice, but alas Rubi did. Jamie nodded her head quickly though and rubbed at the back of her neck.
"Yeah, im fine. Just a nightmare, but im fine now." She smiled reassuringly at Rubi.
It sounded strange, but Jamie liked how protective Rubi was. It meant that despite the sometimes devilish and scheming persona she kept up, she did care about Jamie deep down. Though, Jamie knew that one day she'd have to fight her own battles instead of letting Rubi do it for her.
Jamie allowed Rubi to tug her along and she almost stumbled down the stairs at her fast pace. "Just a little." She added after Rubi asked if she was afraid she'd poisoned it, a cheeky grin on her face.
Jamie giggled at her twins antics, the nightmare leaving her thoughts as she looked at the food. It did look delicious, and Jamie's stomach grumbled. "Looks yummy, Rub's." Jamie said as she took over from there and put an equal amount of food on both of their plates. She placed the plates on the counter once more and waited for Rubi to sit before she did. |

| Rubi didn't believe her, but she understood that her twin didn't want to talk about the nightmare. She sighed and shrugged.
"If you say so," she said softly, knowing that Jamie would understand that she didn't believe her.
She knew Jamie wouldn't have a problem with telling Rubi if it was necessary. She knew Jamie trusted her, and that Jamie could trust her. Rubi would do anything for her, and Jamie knew that, so Rubi wasn't that worried. She laughed a bit when Jamie admitted her worry of poisonous food.
She beamed. "Of course it does," she said happily and smiled as Jamie placed the plates on the counter.
She walked over and sat down, gesturing to the chair next to her. "You want me to pull it out for you?" she asked wickedly. |

| Jamie could see the skeptical look on Rubi's face, but she didn't want to talk about the weird dream she had, and it was still giving her the creeps. Rubi would just over-react and worry, and she didn't want that right now in her sleepy state.
"I do say so." She responded, her cheeky grin in place. Joking around might help Rubi believe she was fine.
Jamie trusted Rubi, but the dream had disturbed her greatly. It didn't make any sense that she would have such a strange nightmare, and their parents had always said that dreams showed the innermost worries and desires of your soul, so Jamie didn't understand why she would be worried of such a monster. Maybe it was just her childish mind inventing things to frighten her.
Jamie rolled her eyes at Rubi and reached over to ruffle her hair lightly. Jamie'd never been overly shy around her twin, her confident and cheery side shining through, but this was only when they were privately within the confines of their family.
Jamie giggled and before Rubi could pull the chair out, she'd already done so and sat down. She stuck her tongue out at Rubi and cut off a piece of egg, placing it in her mouth and smiling. "Mmm, yum." She complimented. |

| Jamie's cheeky grin made Rubi relax more. Maybe the nightmare hadn't been so bad after all. But maybe it had. Rubi wasn't letting it go so easily, but she figured she could bring it up some other time. Now was time for good and cozy breakfast.
She stuck her tongue right back at Jamie when she sat down before Rubi had time to pull the chair out, but she laughed nonetheless. It was so easy to be happy around Jamie. She just shone her own happy aura. Rubi guessed that if it had not been for Jamie, Rubi would probably not be the one she was today. Sure she'd be happy, but not ecstatically so. She was the more serious one of them after all.
"I'm glad you're liking it," Rubi said happily, very pleased that her sister did like it; Rubi's cooking skills weren't the best in the world, though they were fairly decent.
"So, what are we going to do today?" she asked, looking out the window in the direction of the stable. |

| Jamie sighed as she saw that look in Rubi's eye, the determined one that clearly stated she wasn't going to let it go, that she'd bring it up another time. Jamie pursed her lips, but decided to say nothing on the matter.
Jamie loved how happy Rubi was when she was around her. Even more so than normal, she practically glowed and was very relaxed, easy-going and playful. She was like how Jamie was most of the time - when she wasn't being nervous or shy - and she liked that Rubi could be like that too. It was common knowledge among everyone they knew that Rubi was the more serious of the duo. Jamie was the bubbly one.
Jamie liked the bacon, Rubi knew exactly how to cook it. She wasn't even sure if Rubi knew that she was cooking it to Jamie's preference - soft with crunchy edges - but she was and it made Jamie smile. "I am, the bacons perfect." She beamed.
Jamie followed Rubi's gaze out the window, knowing that she was looking at the stables. Jamie grinned at Rubi. "Shall we go for a little ride?" She asked. |

| Rubi had to smile when Jamie pursed her lips. Oh, she knew her sister well. It was too easy to read her, but she wasn't about to point that out, and get bacon thrown on her. She simply returned to her food, taking a big bite out of her, if she was allowed to think, deliciously fried bacon. She beamed at Jamie.
"Really? Well, no surprise. That's just how good I am," Rubi said with mock pride.
She then beamed at her twin. "Definitely," she said happily.
Rubi loved riding, but even more, she loved Amora, her beautiful, palomino mare. She wanted to drink her food down and run to the stables. It was just one of those days. Maybe because it wasn't long until they would leave for Hogwarts, and she was really looking forward to that. But she was not looking forward to leaving Amora behind, and she was pretty sure that Jamie wasn't liking leaving her fine stallion behind either.

| Jamie twirled some bacon around her fork as she chewed on the bacon already in her mouth. Jamie's most favourite thing in the world was bacon, and she always got incredibly happy whenever she was eating. She spooned some egg into her mouth as well and beamed at Rubi.
"Don't get your ego boosted, Rub's, its already big enough to fill this house." Jamie stuck her tongue out at Rubi.
Jamie was practically scoffing down her food - even if she was adoring it - as she was excited to go riding. It was the best bonding time Rubi and Jamie had, and she loved her baby. He was her pride and joy, and she knew that Rubi loved Cookie just as much as she loved Storm. He was magnificent with his waving black mane and his shimmering coat. She wasn't excited to leave her baby behind, but Hogwarts was too good to miss out on.
She stuffed more food down her throat until she was completely finished and she turned to face Rubi. |

| Rubi laughed. "Good one, twinnie," she praised.
She then took a new bite, a big one this time, thinking to herself; would she be able to take that last piece in one mouthful, or not? She figured she'd try and stuffed her mouth with it. SHe looked over at Jamie, who seemed equally busy with eating her own food. When Jamie looked over at her, Rubi beamed, still chewing that last piece of bread, and then swallowed, drinking the rest of her juice as well.
"All right! Up and get on clothes! We be going to stables," she said happily.
She ran up the stairs and changed to her riding gear and then ran downstairs again, smirking at the fact that she was quicker than Jamie for once. She stood at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for her sister with a big grin on her face. |

| Jamie winked at Rubi as she was praised. "Of course it was a good one, I came up with it didn't I?" She giggled.
Always, Jamie was more confident around Rubi, as if she wasn't a shy girl. She was cheeky, sarcastic and fun, however when with people she wasn't accustomed too she was shy, quiet and nervous. Jamie reached out and tossed back her juice before she leapt up and grinned at Rubi. She loved going riding.
"Yay!" She exclaimed.
Jamie tore up the stairs behind Rubi, but as Rubi had a head start she'd not expected to have to run up the stairs and so had trailed behind. Once changed, she skipped down the stairs to her sisters side, and straight past her to the back door. She pushed it open and held it open for Rubi. "Shall we, m'lady?" |

| Rubi laughed. "That's why I'm surprised!" she retorted happily, her turn to stick her tongue out.
She loved how Jamie was so confident around Rubi. It was her own Jamie. The one no one but she saw. And their parents, of course, but they didn't count. Rubi let out a chuckle as Jamie let out a cry of joy. Then she turned as Jamie walked over to the back door and held it open.
"Why, thank you, my dear," she said, and then she started running to the stables, pretty sure Jamie wasn't far behind at all. |
