Paula was born off the coastline of New Zealand, on her father's ship. Her father tells Paula that her mother died giving birth to her, but she's heard rumours of her mother poisoning herself after giving birth because she had found out Paula's father was a Pirate and a wizard. Paula has no real last name, but she is not shamed by it. Her father named her after some Romanian crew members suggested names in their native tongue. She's spent her whole life on the water, and never went to school (she was homeschooled). Paula was adored by her father and inherited his ship when he died of old age.
