Clara dusted off her hands and strode over to the large, arching windows, swinging them open one by one, letting in the breeze of the cool, clear summer day. The board was instructing the students on an end of year project - just for fun.

"Right," she said, once the students had settled. Clara placed her hands sturdily on the desk and stared about the room, a glow sparkling in her eyes. "Seeing as we didn't get much done with the levitation charm last lesson, we're going to try again. The incantation is Wingardium Leviosa. Emphasis on the oo sound, not the sah." She grinned, remembering the many-times-quoted words of Miss Hermione Granger.

"Using your wands," Clara picked up hers, "Swish and flick. Yes, like that. Just a simple swish, then a flick of the wrist. Do it with me, Swish and flick. Have we got it? Good! I want to see everyone's feather's in the air by the end of this lesson!" She clapped her hands and let the classroom loose.

Jamie skipped along to her charms lesson in high spirits. It was nearing the end of term, and soon she could go home to her beloved family and her darling horse. Excitement bubbled within her at the prospect and she giggled happily. Once inside the class, she took a seat at the front and smiled shyly at Professor O'Keefe.

As the lesson begun, she pulled out her textbook and her wand. She picked it up and swished her wand with the professor, a flick added at the end. She practised this a few more times, before doing it over the feather and saying "Wingardium Leviosa!" as well. After a few failed attempts, she finally managed to get the feather floating a few centimetres before it would drop back down once more.

Carey ran a hand through his hair as he made his way to the classroom. Stupid charms. He was glad the year was coming to an end, yet at the same time he wasn't. School wasn't exactly the safe haven everyone made it out to be. He supposed that as long as his brother didn't visit that he'd make it through the summer. Walking into the classroom and making his way to the front of the room, he also made a mental not to himself to ask his mother about stupid glasses. He hadn't wanted them, but he hated the headaches he got from squinting all the time.

Sitting down he set his bag on the ground next to him, and pulled his wand from his waistband as he looked over to the professor. Ah of course, this spell. He raised his hand to his mouth with a yawn as she gave the instructions. Along with the rest of the class, he did the wand movements along with her, glancing over briefly at Jamie. He rolled his eyes and turned back to the front. he glared down at the feather, doing the wand motions as he said "Wingardium Leviosa-" He smiled to himself and looked over at Jamie with a smug expression as it took her several attempts to get hers up. His gently floated a few inches before drifting back down.

Olivia went into her class and took a seat. She heard her professor's instruction and looked at the feather in front of her. She took out her wand and clear her mind. She concentrate hard then did the wand motions and said "Wingardium Leviosa-". She saw that her feathers are in the air and smiled in satisfaction. Things haven't been well for her lately so this was cheering her up a little.

Looking at the board, he saw it was a spell he already had learned about. This was a spell Humphrey had practiced over the summer. Clearing his mind, he focused on the correct pronunciation and wand movement he needed to do. With a quick swish and a flick of his wand, he said, "Wingardium Leviosa.", and his feather was floating as well. Sometimes, people just assumed he was a natural at this. Most people didn't know all the effort he put in to learn all these spells before class.

Smiling at Olivia, who he had decided to sit next to, Humphrey looked around the room. Jamie had struggled a bit, but Olivia and Carey had done it easily enough. Maybe he wouldn't stand out as the nerdy kid who studied all the time in Charms. That would be nice.
