| Deva sat by her desk, waiting for the class to walk into the room. She pointed her wand to the blackboard, and the word 'incendio' appeared. She then conjured a tank filled with lake water into the classroom, a small being with many tentacles inside, looking like an alien. She conjured some small buckets of water to be placed on every student's desk. She then turned as the first students filed in.
"All right class! As you can see, we'll be learning about the spell 'incendio' today. First of all, who can tell me what the spell does?" she asked, looking at them all.
When one of the students raised their hand, she pointed to them and they answered.
Then she turned fully to the class again. "And the tank behind me holds a creature from the Black Lake. Can anyone guess what creature it is? And what effect does the spell have on it?" she asked them.
(OOC: Yeah, new things all around, but reply only to either the one with the incendio spell or the one where Deva asks what creature it is and what the spell would do to the creature. Hope that's understandable. Also, it's important that the person replying first to this thread replies to the first question if it has yet to be answered.) |

| Sophie walked into class and sighed. She was so tired. She was glad summer was coming. It was strawberry season too. That brought a smile to her face. She waited for class to start and looked in her textbook to find the answer when it did. She didn't want to seem stupid.
"Doesn't it make fire?" She said unsure. She really hoped she was right. |

| Rubi sat down in the classroom, noticing a Gryffindor already there. She paid attention to what professor White said and gave a glance over at the Gryffindor as she replied to White's question. She then wondered what the reply to the professor's next question could be. She honestly had no idea. The creature was disgusting though. Really small and sticky and ... alien-like.
She sighed and wondered who would have the answer to that question, knowing she didn't. |

| Ethan walked into the classroom, groaning as he saw the people in the room. He was outnumbered again, as there were three females inside. He sighed, walking to a seat somewhere in the back. He flipped through the pages of her text book, hoping he could answer at least one of the questions.
He looked up when the girl from Gryffindor answered the first question, and looked down again. He listened to Professor White's next question. He looked at the creature inside the tank, looking at it carefully. He had no idea what it was. |

| When Jamie walked in, she saw the most hideous creature ever behind the professor. She shuddered and hurried over to Rubi's side. Sophie answered the first question asked by the professor, but it seemed that only the Ravenclaw knew what the creature was. A grindylow, she said, and Jamie grimaced.
It was possibly the ugliest, freakiest looking creature she'd ever seen. She had to refrain from whimpering as placed a hand on the tank, a webbed hand with grimy fingers. She shudder again and slid her chair closer to Rubi. |

| Halcyon walked into the classroom and sat down. He listened on as the professor explained and smiled as Sophie answered one of the questions. He hoped it would earn them some points. Then the Ravenclaw replied to the next question, though he would've guessed himself. Where he lived, there was an ocean near, and it held some of those abominations. They were decidedly the ugliest creatures he had laid eyes on during his lifetime. Grindylows. He shuddered slightly, remembering when one of those creatures had come in touch with him. He hadn't enjoyed that, to say it like so. |

| Humphrey walked into the classroom a little later than he normally did. It had not been good for him so far today. He was starting to feel out of place at Hogwarts. The exact same thing had happened at his previous muggle schools. They all thought he was a know-it-all, and just weird. He felt like a freak, most of the time in class he barely had to pay attention to ace everything. Having such a good memory, it allowed him to have a lot of time to himself. Which was nice, but it also made him very awkward socially.
Picking a seat at the very back of the room, he put his things down. He slipped into his seat, and had to tell himself not to just bang his head on the desk. It was just so frustrating! One of the girls he had thought was really cool had gossiped about him in a whisper. Humphrey had overheard, and it wasn't a nice thing they were gossiping about. Jamie Wright had called him a know-it-all, and Rubi had laughed. The Wright Twins were two girls who he really thought were nice, but they apparently didn't think the same about him.
He looked at the front of the class, and saw what he immediately identified as a Grindylow in a tank. Then he wondered what they would do with it, because he hadn't heard the question or answer about Incendio. Since he had been running late. |

| Carey eagerly made his way up the stairs and down the corridor the DADA, he had actually been looking forward to this lesson all week, it being one of his favorite classes despite a bad first impression with the professor. Well, potions might have been his favorite if it hadn't been his brothers strongest class, but he was still more then happy to be in the class as well. It'd be better if he wasn't surrounded by people who didn't like him. Whatever though, they didn't matter. Carey walked in with the rest of the students, taking his usual seat right up at the front so he could see. A sudden yawn came over him when the professor asked about incendio, a spell which he knew about. He had been about to raise his hand to answer and Sophie answered first. He turned and gave a small smile and nod to her, as she had gotten it right, though she didn't seem so confident about it.
He hadn't even noticed the tank until the professor mentioned it. He leaned forward in his seat and narrowed his eyes slightly to try to get a better look at whatever it was. Before he could make out what it could have been, Meliae's soft accented voice spoke out the answer. Ah, of course, it definitely was. He remembered one time when his family was invited to the Dumbledore estate for some sort of event, his father had warned him to stay away from the water there as it had Grindylows. At the time he didn't know what they were, so his father showed him a picture. Those creatures were definitely something you'd want to stay away from.
When she asked what effect the spell would have on it, he thought for a moment. He then raised his hand, speaking, "Well, water and fire don't exactly get along... So I'm guessing you'd use it to either keep them away or get them off of you." |

| Alexis stared out the window of her dorm, thinking about random topics. She was sick and tired of being at this godforsaken school, it wasn't as great as it was cracked up to be. Sure, this could be because Alexis had only made one friend - Halcyon - and he was so bloody popular that she had no one else to talk to when he was off with his millions of friends (mostly girls). Honestly, they were only his friend because he was attractive, Alexis actually liked him. She huffed, rather upset, and punched her pillow. She didn't want to go home either, to her stupid parents. As much as they loved her, she never seemed to return it because they were all 'Gryffindor this' and 'Harry Potter that'. She was so sick and tired of hearing about bloody Gryffindor and bloody Harry Potter. Yes, he was awesome, but did they have to go on, and on, and on, and on? No!
Alexis let out a groan of frustration as she fell back against the bed and stared up at the green canopy over head. She laid like that for almost an hour before she looked at the clock and realised it was time for DADA. It was one of the only lessons she could actually stand, and she smiled as she realised she would be off to it. She stood up and walked around her room, picking up various objects she'd need for that lessons and the ones after it. She placed each object into her bag and slung it over her shoulder, stumbling almost at how heavy it was. She couldn't wait until she learned the weightless charm, but that wasn't for a couple of years? Heck, she wasn't even sure WHEN they'd learn that one. Alexis shook her head and noted with a laugh that she was an incredibly sour person.
Alexis walked along to her DADA class and was appalled at the creature behind their Professor. A grindy something, grindy-what? She sighed and looked around for a spot. She saw that for once, Halcyon wasn't surrounded by giggling girls and used this to her advantage. She took a seat beside him and smiled. "Not surrounded by your fans, hmm Halcyon? Something happen?" She asked cheekily. The teacher began the lesson, but she still couldn't remember what the bloody creature was until Meliae pointed it out. Of course! Alexis wished to bash her head against the table repeatedly but refrained from doing so. |

| Deva nodded. "Indeed, it does produce fire. Five points to Gryffindor," she said calmly. She looked at the class. It seemed so, unsettled. She tilted her head to the side, but overlooked it though it annoyed her.
"Five points to Ravenclaw, and five points to Slytherin. It is indeed a Grindylow, and the spell would be used to keep them away or off you," Deva said, giving the three students a proud look, though with no smile. She didn't know why. Normally, she smiled a lot, but when she was in class... It felt like she was here to protect them against the darkness of the world, and smiles wouldn't be quite the thing to do so.
"I would like you all to use this spell on the water I have placed on your tables. Please try to evaporate the water," she said calmly, "Five points to those who succeed." |

| Halcyon looked up in surprise when Alexis sat down next to him. He beamed at her, but it instantly fell when she asked him where his fangirls had gone. Honestly, it was annoying. Girls were spying at him when he was studying in the library. The only reason he hadn't snapped, was because they were discreet about it, reading a book and looking over the edge of it. He rolled his eyes. "I don't like them anymore than you do. Or, some of them are nice. The ones who have dared to come up to me and actually say 'hi' have proven to be quite cool," he said with a slight shrug.
Then the professor, who still looked bloody strict, told them what to do, and he started trying. "Incendio," he said clearly and flames burst from his wand, not big ones, but they did burst and tried to burn the water before it drowned. He frowned. That wouldn't be possible to evaporate. Then his frown deepened and he lifted the glass, putting it between two of his books, and lit his wand again. The water immediately started boiling and after a quarter of just sitting there, making sure his books didn't catch fire, the water was finally gone. It would've taken him an hour if the glass had been completely full. |

| Deva gave a look around the classroom. She then noticed the time. "All right everyone, that's all we got to do today. Please read a bit about the Grindylows for next lesson. I'm depending on you all to be able to answer some questions about them," she said calmly.
"Class dismissed," she then said. |
