| Class List: Carey Matthews October Williams Jamie Wright Sophie Robin Aislin Swandeth Halcyon Dumbledore Parker hummed quietly to himself, arranging some papers on his desk. His paperwork from the hospital wing, decided to grow in size and he no longer had space on his desk there because...well, he was quite disorganized. He really needed to spend a day on finding a place for everything, and until then he hoped he hadn't lost anything. He grabbed the class list and placed it on the top of all his papers with a sigh. He opened the top desk of his drawer and dropped his wand in it, as he planned to do every lesson. Hopefully his students would get into some weird habit of always brandishing their wands around. If that was going to be the case, he knew he'd not stand for it and request they drop their wants into the desk drawer too. He drummed his fingers on the top of the desk as he closed it and locked it wandlessly. He hoped they had a good lesson this time, with more people participating then Ms. Wright. he stood and went to the board as he head the students enter and wrote as nearly as he could; Muggle Views on Magic

| Sophie walked in and smiled when she saw the board being able to read it this time. She sat down in the front and smiled at Healer Emery. She had a feeling she's be seeing him a bit more than most. She was a bit clumsy and it didn't help that the stairs moved.
She was a bit excited for this class. She would know a bit about this. She remembered her brother's reaction when she said it wasn't a joke. |

| Halcyon walked into the classroom and sat down at some random table. He looked around and saw that only one girl was there, and it was a Gryffindor. He blinked and took his stuff, rose from his desk and walked over to her, sitting down. He really needed to get to know the people in his own house, at least introduce himself to them. "Hey," he said with a smile, reaching a hand out to her, "I'm Halcyon." |

| Sophie looked up when someone came over to her. She blushed slightly and took his hand. "Hi. I'm Sophie." She said a bit shyly. Why was he so cute it wasn't fair. She sighed and smiled at him anyway. "How are you." She asked slightly nervous. |

| Carey walked in, not feeling so bad today. He'd been talking to some different people today and it was nice to be on good terms with people. He certainly needed the socializing. Maybe that's why his nerves had been so easily frayed by everything.
He walked through the door, sighing. He hoped the actually did something useful this class. He'd just drop it otherwise. But he still had the nagging curiosity about muggles and that whole world he understood so little of. He saw the red in seated in the front of the room, and remembered Sophie, whom he'd met in the Gardens. He walked over to the table, going to take a seat in the front of the class this time. But as he got closer he saw that Halcyon was sitting with her and talking to here. That's right, he was a Gryffindor....
He had stopped walking, just standing sort of near their table a moment, as he was trying to decide what to do next. He looked over and took a seat away from them, but still in the front row. Carey crossed his arms, putting them on the table, a frown set on his face. Great. Halcyon. Of course he'd be in this class and just ruin his day with his face or whatever it was about him that just put him off. He glanced over, squinting, then rolling his eyes. He then looked at the board, squinting again. 'Muggle Views on Magic' huh. That seemed interesting at least. |

| Sophie saw Carey come in and smiled and waved at him. She frowned slightly when he didn't sit by her. She wondered what was up. He didn't seem mad at her. She was going to talk to him she turned back to Halcyon, she blushed and muttered. "I'm going to sit with Carey." Before moving next to her friend.
She looked at him and sat next to him after smiling at him again. "Hey, you ok?" She asked him worried. |

| Jamie sat in the Hufflepuff dorm, staring at her reflection in the mirror they shared with everyone. She could see herself, on her bed with her yellow hangings held back by strings and the darker yellow colour of the bedsheets. Her teddy was propped up by a pillow, and though she forced a smile on her face even she could see how fake it was. Jamie was loosing her spark, that happiness that always seemed to be within her even when she was acting shy. She felt sick all the time, and had spent half the night in the bathroom. She stood up and walked over to the mirror. Her eyes were bloodshot, her face red and blotchy from crying, and she had bags under her eyes. She looked a mess, with her hair in a low ponytail that had bits sticking out and her uniform crinkled. She sighed and rubbed at her face, before she grabbed her bag and made her way to her Muggle Studies classroom.
She didn't even look around this time to see who was there, and if Jamie'd had any friends she wouldn't've wanted to sit with them. As it was, Jamie didn't have any friends. Loner, loser, shy, weirdo, freak, thats what she was. She sat down in the back corner of the classroom and rested her head on the wall as her eyes slid shut. |

| Halcyon smiled at the girl. "Nice to meet you Sophie," he said.
Then the classroom door opened and in walked Carey. Halcyon's mood dropped; he still looked like he absolutely hated him. Maybe Halcyon was wrong, and Carey really did have something against him past their family feud. Sophie obviously knew him as she went to sit with him. Halcyon shrugged and turned back forward when the door opened again. A Hufflepuff girl walked in, and she did not look good. Not that she wasn't pretty, that wasn't it. But she looked deadly tired and sad. He picked up his back, put on his most happy face and walked over to her.
"Hey there," he said with a smile, "I'm Halcyon Dumbledore," he said kindly to her, reaching out his hand.
Wow, he was on a loop. Possibly making two more acquaintances this day. |

| Jamie picked at the yellow stitching which lined her skirt with a sigh, her eyes open once more now. She pulled at the string until he skirt looked crumpled, which she then flattened and released the string. She watched it sit there, all yellow and representing bubbly emotions whilst she felt flat and lonely. She looked over at the stupid Slytherin that was adding to her misery and frowned, wishing he'd just explode and she'd not have to worry about the fact that she had no friends - just an 'enemy' in a way. Jamie rested her head against the wall once more and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out everything around her.
She imagined brushing Thunder's beautiful coat until it sparkling in the sun, with her mother and father laughing at her and Rubi in the next stall with her horse. The feeling of cantering across the paddock, sitting in the lounge with her parents, curling up next to Rubi every night. She wanted to go home so desperately it made her chest ache. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching her, and her eyes flew open. She was fully prepared to snap at whoever it was to go away, when she saw possibly the cutest boy she'd ever seen in her entire life. He had golden locks of hair that made his eyes stand out, and her heart fluttered in her chest. Her eyes widened as she realised he was talking to her, plain old Jamie. She took his hand and limply shook it. "H-h-h-h," she stuttered, her cheeks burning red. "Uh, h-i." She squeaked, her shyness added with the attractiveness of this boy rendering her near in-comprehensible speech. |

| As the students entered the room, he smiled back to them. He was happy to see some talking and general friendliness between students. It always made the class more pleasurable. He frowned a little bit though, seeing Ms. Wright walk in. She didn't seem to be adjusting to everything too well. He'd set to talk to her after class so check on her. He remembered his first year how alone he was until he found his best friend. She just needed to find hers. He sighed, knowing it would do no good to call attention to it now, as much as he may have wanted to. For now he needed to get on with the lesson.
He waited as he saw a Gryffindor boy go sit by her, and held back a smile. the kindness of a Gryffindor could always be counted on. Hopefully he could help her out. But he still wanted to check on her. He shook his head to push back the thoughts and cleared his throat, signaling them to get on with the lesson.
"Alright everyone, so, as the board says we'll be getting on with Muggle views on magic. Knowing what they do of our culture will help us understand them more. With the secrecy laws now, muggle knowledge is only based off past muggle records that have been, in many ways, exaggerated and a changed into a stereotypical type of character. They have myths and stories about magic and magical creatures because of accidental occurrences that can't be helped. Magical creatures and pests play as much a role in their lives as ours. They just have no explanation for why some things happen."
"Would some of our muggleborns like to share what they knew of magic before they got their letter? I know personally for me, I only knew what I did from movies. Such with elemental and talking familiars, and the generally evil, ugly look or the enchantress kind of look." He then motioned for one of the students to share. "Or even if not a muggleborn, what's one thing that you heard muggles believe about us?" |

| Sophie put up her hand. She was rather happy that she knew someting about this topic. She smiled and began talking.
"Well, in muggle books often there is fairies that have magic similar to a wizards. They have wands and can grant wishes. Such as Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. In other books most of the people with magic are evil. Like in Snow White. There are even a few that have a historical point of view." She said to the class. "Basicly magic for muggles is a thing of fairy tales and stories. Every thing strange I did was just that strange and unexplained." She concluded. |

| Parker smiled as the Gryffindor student raised her hand and explained what she knew. "Yeah, it's interesting, isn't it? A lot of creatures like fairies are shown in muggle stories often so much differently then how it really is in our world. Vampires and werewolves are a very notable difference. Though there are creatures which are still very the same such as unicorns. Those sorts of creatures were at one point very much a part of both words. Like Dragons, muggles have huge studies about them, same with yeti and loch ness. Those creatures have just always been there and can't always be contained by magical means." He said with a nod.
"And when strange unexplained things happen to muggles it often makes them scared and frightened. I mean, it would be like that for any person, but it happens so much more to muggles. This uncertainty and lack of explanation can then breed hate. Which is one of the reasons so many have negative ideas about wizards and witches, because they simply don't know about it. A lot of those in the magical community have been wanting to...well, out the magical community in a way, in hope that education will lesson the dislike. Personally, after I found out I was a wizard, my parents didn't take it well, especially as I got older. There were so many negative ideas they held about us, but if they had not been given such negative ideas there would have been no tension or distrust at all. And it's not only like that between magical and non magical people. It's really between any groups that don't understand another." Parker liked just being able to talk like this. It was a fairly easy class to teach, and it didn't matter too much if they went a bit off topic. They would learn a lot more by an open talks like this and they could always add something if they wanted. |
