| Humphrey decided to go to the secret clearing, he just couldn't take it if somebody saw him crying in the bathroom. There were only two other people he knew of that came here. The quiet Ravenclaw named Meliae Winters who came here for peace and quiet, and Jamie Wright. He'd met her here once, and that was when he had thought she was really cool. Now, she had hurt his feelings more than anybody else had at Hogwarts.
Deciding that the ground was too hard, he decided to lash together some twigs with leaves on them still from the trees, and made himself a makeshift pillow to rest his head on. Then, he just started crying, and after a couple minutes, tried to fall asleep. Focusing on his breathing, he tried to calm his thoughts. At that moment, a twig snapped. "Go away! Whoever you are, just let me be. Please, I don't want to be seen right now." he said. Looking up, he was surprised to see a certain somebody there. |

| Rubi wasn't mad at Jamie at all. She absolutely understood why she had called Humphrey a know-it-all, but when the guy had started watering up, she instantly felt bad. She tried to prevent Jamie from seeing him being sad, because she knew that her twin would feel bad too. So she had followed him with her eyes to where he went so she could follow him after the lesson, which was already almost at an end.
When the lesson ended, she gave a big smile to Jamie, and then said something about she walking on ahead, wanting to check up on Humphrey without being obvious about it. So she walked towards the clearing she knew was there. Her sister had showed it to her once. She could hear some sobbing and picked up her pace, snapping a twig while at it. Humphrey then yelled at her to go away, but she saw him there already. She walked up to him when he looked up, and sat down next to him.
"Are you okay?" she asked him, without really looking at him, still feeling quite guilty. |

| "No I'm not okay! I'm sorry, it's just. You and your sister are two of the nicest people here. I really liked both of you, and then you made a joke. It just brought back all the memories of my last school. Honestly, I do study, but I only read the coursebook through once. My memory is just so good, that it holds everything in. Processing information, that is one of the only things I'm good at." Humphrey explained, still crying. But, he was glad she was here, and it was calming him a bit to let it out. Rubi was nice, but Jamie...well he wasn't sure about her. She seemed nice that time they'd met in the secret clearing.
"Yet, that is what people make fun of me for. I suck at making friends, my artwork is shoddy; and not only that, but my guardians don't even know what to do with me. My parents died, they were the only people who ever understood me. They would know what to say to me, but not my aunt and uncle. It isn't your fault, I just can't take any more name-calling right now. I'm just too broken, on the inside. The energy, the jokes, the speaking up to answer in class. That is just a giant wall I put up. So nobody has to see...well, this. Who could love this?" he said, crying onto his own sleeve. It wasn't like he knew how to act around girls. He was an idiot when it came to this stuff. |

| Rubi sighed. "Hey, Humphrey, just take a couple of deep breaths, okay? Jamie never meant to be rude to you. I didn't either if I made the impression. Heck, why do you think being called a know-it-all is so bad?" she asked softly.
"As for who would love you, I'm very sure there are a hundred girls out there in the future that loves you. Come on, you're eleven. You got all the time in the world. Lighten up. Look at the bright side of life. Sadness will get you nowhere," Rubi said with a soft smile.
She honestly couldn't stand it when people were sad, whether they were close to her or not. "So, wanna tell me something about yourself? Things you like? The only way to get friends, you know," she said with a big smile. |

| "Because, that is how everybody always sees me. Just the smart kid with a book. Whenever I get to know people, they see that and think what a weird kid. Most people my age don't like studying. I'm the exception, and because of that I feel like an outsider. I'm afraid it will happen here at Hogwarts, just like at every other school I've been too." Humphrey admitted to her, tearing up. "Sorry, you must think I'm pretty pathetic, huh? Can't even take a joke." he said, putting himself down.
He listened to her, and she made a lot of sense. Then he just hugged her tightly. "Thanks for that, Rubi. I know there will be, and I know it isn't good to be sad. I try to stay light, it is just my brain sometimes says nobody could love you. Sometimes, it gets through, ya know?" Humphrey smiled up at her, and let her go.
"Well, one of the things I like is you Wright twins. Both you and Jamie are so cool. But, about me, I like to read, write, compose music, play bass guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, sing, listen to muggle bands, starting to listen to wizard bands, paint, sketch, draw with charcoal sticks, sculpt, take pictures when I'm at home with my Muggle aunt and uncle, play basketball, again a muggle sport, really think Quidditch will be awesome, run, play pretty much any sport I can, and finally, I love to learn things. I'm a complete bookworm. But, the thing I like to do most out of all of those is probably the artistic stuff, painting especially. Writing and all forms of music come in a tie for second." Humphrey told her, telling her what she wanted to know.
"What about you, Rubi? What do you do in your spare time?" he asked her, grinning at her.
