Zach sat in the hospital room looking at his mother. His heart felt like breaking at her frail and dying body. She was dying. That is what the doctors and Josh had said. He looked at his mother then at the air beside him. Only to him he was looking at Josh. He sighed and asked him a few questions. "How long? Why her?" He asked looking at someone who was only in his head. He heard the beeping and looked around wildly hoping it was in his head. It wasn't. "Now.' Josh said looking at Zach. The boy panicked and looked for someone to help.
The doctors came in and tried to save her. They couldn't they declared her dead. He felt a tear go down his face as he looked at his mom. His mother. he was 7 years old he shouldn't have lost her so soon in her life. He sat down and looked at Josh as the doctors let the room. "This is your fault." He said needing someone to blame. His father came in with tears in his eyes. He was still yelling at Josh. "Leave me alone." He screamed holding his head. "Stop telling me what to do." he said shaking his head to get the voice of his 'friend' out. "No Zach I'm your friend." The voice replied. "No you aren't." He shouted back trying to make it stop.
His father looked at him oddly and wondered what was going on. It was only the two of them yet his son seemed to be talking to air. This wasn't right. He looked at his son and asked who Josh was. The reply startled him. "The voice in my head." Zach said shaking his head in desperation.
His father took him by his ear and apperated him home. He didn't like this. No he must beat it out of his son. He couldn't have voices in his head. It wasn't right. He struck his son hard in the face. He did it again ignoring his cries. It needed to stop hearing things that weren't real.
OF course he didn't know that it only made it worse.
