PostSubject: Lesson Two - First Years   Lesson Two - First Years EmptyMon Apr 30, 2012 10:56 am

Pyxis huffed as she stood up the front of the classroom and scribbled away on the board. Her writing was a slightly messy scrawl that she was in no mind to correct - if the students couldn't read it, too bad! - and once she'd finished the instructions with a final dot she returned to her desk and fiddled with her pen. Her boredom showed on her face and she tried to rein in her irritable feelings and not scowl at the students as they walked in - though this was proving to be a difficult task. She ran a hand through her hair and forced a smile on her face as she looked at the first student, but it fell immediately and she returned to glaring at her desk.

There was a good reason for Pyxis' irritableness, and that was the darling - note the sarcasm - of a nephew of hers that she had to take care of. Of course, babies cry, Pyxis knew that, but it didn't make her any less annoyed when they did so. All night, she'd been putting up silencing charms and trying to keep the darned baby quiet. She'd even considered stunning Noah so that he'd sleep, but despite the fact she'd never met Aquila she was sure that her sister would not be pleased with this arrangement. Which meant that it left one option - deal with it. Pyxis rubbed at her eyes and yawned, not wanting to teach a bunch of first year brats today but what choice did she have, just like last night? Suck it up and deal with it.

Aislin walked into the classroom, rubbing her eyes tiredly. She'd been up later than usual last night - darned Halcyon and his talkativeness - and hadn't gotten her usual amount of sleep. Both she and her potions professor seemed incapable of smiling too long today, so Aislin throw Professor Wilson a small smile and sat down.

She retrieved her books from her bag, carelessly set them on her desk and then leant forward over them, endeavoring to get her eyes to read the writing on the board.

Tati had arrived late for school so she had missed the last potions lesson and she had been a little upset with her parents, but that was ok she would survive. Walking into the potions classroom she found a bench to sit at.

Before she could sit down she pulled out a little bottle of cleaning spray that she just had to use to spray down her seat and working surfaces so she would be ok to use them. After she was done she pulled out a little bottle of hand sanitizer and cleaned up her hands.

Finally being able to she took her seat and looked around, she noticed there was already a girl sitting in class. She also noted the the teacher had written down some instructions to the assignment. It was a little hard to read at first but she could finally make it out, she hoped anyway.

She sat there with her hands crossed on the table waiting for the class to began.

Biabin had, had the most excellent morning, and proudly wore the mud on her boots as a sign of such a great beginning to the day. Walking briskly into class she took everyone at a glance. "Goo' mornin'!" she said cheerily walking towards a desk. "'ow is everyone today?"

Carey, raised an eyebrow as he neared the open door to the potions room. It was times like this he loved the Slytherin dorms for being so close to the potion's room. But the amount of...well, energy he heard spouting from the room, he felt a little more sluggish. He stood at the doorway, seeing that it was just that spunky Hufflepuff girl. She was always so cheery, and it was refreshing in a way, though this early she just seemed to have way too much energy. Certainly made him feel better though, taking his mind momentarily off that damned Halcyon.

He walked in the room as Biabin, if he remembered correctly, took her seat as a desk. He passed her going to the spot next to Meliae. He turned slighly and gave a small wave to Biabin as he walked by though. "Mornin' " he mumbled. He nodded a greeting to Meliae, and squinted at the board. Were his eyes really getting so much worse? He sighed and looked away from the board. Whatever, he could figure it out later. He needed to remember next time to take a seat closer to the front so he could see.

Alexis strutted along to her class with her head held high. She was proud to be a Potter and liked the small amount of fame she had amongst the other students purely based on who she was related to. The gran-daughter of James Potter, son of Harry Potter certainly gave her a lot of prestige around the school though many were surprised she'd been placed in Slytherin. She treated this with indifference, as Slytherin was a fine house and she was proud to be a Slytherin, too.

Another Slytherin boy had taken his seat just as she entered, and she smiled at no one as she moved over to the back and sat in a corner. She pulled out her gear and set it up on the desk in front of her.

Jamie sighed heavily as she walked along to her next class. She missed having Rubi around her all the time, and the homework had already begun to depress her. Add in that she was home sick, had an enemy, - she never thought she'd have one of those - no friends and she missed her horse ever so much. She rubbed at her eyes and stepped into the classroom with a sad expression. She moved to the back and sat down by herself, to tired too talk to anyone else.

Meliae was little worn out but still she was ready to learn all there was about potions. She look up and she had wonder if Carey was here just like she was thinking about him and such things.

She look over at Meliae with nice smiled she watch him come over seat with her. "Morning." She said out loud but still sometime she felt the need to guard Carey since the little fight with hufflepuff caused him trouble.

Then she puzzle over the matter what not would they be taking notes on it before doing she hope they do notes of each potion so one would be well prepare for what each done. What was wrong take note and then doing? That way one could be prepared and then when they had test they would being that. So that if potion would be able to recognize the liquid in bottle. Is that wrong really that?

PostSubject: Re: Lesson Two - First Years   Lesson Two - First Years EmptySat May 05, 2012 3:41 am

Pyxis walked over to the storage cupboard as they all entered the room, her face still tinged red with irritation. She let out a yawn as she flung open the door and collected the ingredients that the students would need for the potion they were making today. She walked over and placed them all on a desk out the front, waving her wand so all the other ingredients would organise themselves on the desk as well. She flicked her wand and the door slammed shut and locked itself. She then flicked her wand at the door to the classroom, and this door also slammed shut. She walked back up to the front, tucked her wand into her pocket and scowled at the students.

"Today," she cleared her throat and smoothed out her features, though her voice was tinged with frustration. "You will be making the Cure for Boils potion," she pointed to the board and her sort-of messy scrawl. "Instructions are on the board," she then sighed, tapped her wand to the board and the scrawl became bold and easy to read. "You have this lesson to finish the potion, at the end of the lesson I will check your potions. Begin." She then sat down and began to scribble down writing.

Carey wasn't paying attention as she went to put out the ingredients for them as he traced his fingers on the desk. He then flinched both times when the doors slammed and he sat up straight. He looked at her, seeing her scowling. What the hell was her problem?

When she said they were going to be brewing a cure for boils, he pulled out and opened his book, not bothering to even try to look at the board. He got up after looking over the ingredients and then he made his way over to the front desk to grab them. After doing so, he went back to his seat and began to prepare. He reached over for the mortar and put the snake fangs into it crushing them to a fine powder. he added the measures into the cauldron and then turned the heat up, counting the seconds before lowering the heat again.

He'd watched his brother practicing potions at home enough to know a gentle sweep of his hand over the cauldron would be enough as long as he was concentrated on what the effect of the potion was going to be. He kept it in his mind on the boils curing and then sat back in his chair, relaxing for the 20 minutes of wait. He leaned his head back, closing his eyes, wanting to just rest and relax. But he needed to sort out why he may have disliked Halcyon...

He almost got too lost in his thoughts when he sat straight again and went back to his potion. He yawned slightly and reached for the slugs, grimacing slightly at how slimy they were. After adding them he put in the quills. He took the stirrer and stirred the brew clockwise five times as the instructions stated. Waving his wand he looked over his potion, hoping it looked how it should. It seemed he had done everything right, it looked pretty good if he said so himself. He smiled a little and looked up, raising his hand to get the professor's attention.

First thing she did she did not want to screw up the potion but she puzzle over one thing. How did you know if you got it right. Were the student allow to test on something with Boils. Then she wrote it down. She add six snake fangs to the mortar. Then she add fine powder and she add four measures to the caudron. Then she heat it up for ten minute she look down direction and some other book she was looking on about tranfiguration.

Then she wave her wand a bit and left to brew for minute she wrote something down about tranfiguration in the 20 minute. Most about the book page they had read. Then she went back to add 4 slug. She thought the slug were gross she hate those things where gross.

Then she 2 porcupine quills to the potion and she stir five clockwise. Then she wave her wand and as the direction. Then she raise her hand when she was done. After she was done with the potion she look back at the teacher with wonder was all.

Pyxis waited until each and every student had finished making their potion before she did the rounds. To her immense annoyance and displeasure, Carey Matthew's was damn near perfect. She sniffed and fixed him with an intense scowl. "Adequate." She snapped, before moving onto the Ravenlcaw - Meliae Winters. This one wasn't as good as Carey's, but it was pretty good for a muggle born and a first year. This also irritated her, but she spared the girl her frown and merely pursed her lips. "Good." She checked everyone else's, then stood up the front. "You're all dismissed." She snapped at them all.
