Alcyone hummed to herself as she flipped through her book in interest, completely captivated by the story. She slid her bookmark into the book as she realized that her class would be starting soon. She pushed herself away from her desk and stood up, turning to the blackboard behind her she began to write on it with her white chalk. Across the board was now the word,

'Transfiguration'.

Jamie stared at herself in the mirror, a pleased smile on her face. She was happy to be in Hufflepuff, not that she'd minded whichever house she'd be put in, but she was also nervous. Now, she would have to fend for herself without Rubi. It was weird having a bed to herself, as she was so accustomed to sharing one with her twin. She woke up expecting to see Rubi hovering over and poking her only to see the golden drapes around her bed. Jamie shook her head, put her bag over her shoulder and walked through the halls to the Transfiguration classroom. Once inside, she smiled in greeting to Professor Malfoy before she took her seat at the front of the classroom.

Rubi walked up the stairs to the fourth floor. She was in a bad mood. She was in Slytherin! Freaking Slytherin! That was not something she had expected. She had been hoping for Ravenclaw, and she winds up in Slytherin! She growled slightly. Not to mention that that idiot from the lake was in her house as well. Merlin dammit.

She walked into the classroom and looked at the blackboard as if she wanted to kill it. Then she saw Jamie and her mood lightened slightly. She walked over and sat down.

"I'm in Slytherin," she pouted, "Slytherin, Jamie!"

Paige was always on time and today was no different. She was the first there and made her way to the second row. She hated sitting in the first row. The teachers always picked on everyone in the front row. Paige was in a very good mood today. She was a Hufflepuff! Her mother (Who was a witch) was in Hufflepuff. Her Father (Who was a muggle) had no idea about the house.

Jamie looked up as Rubi entered and beamed at her twin, glad to see her. That first night in her dorm alone had been frightening and scary to say the least, as she'd hardly ever gone without her sister. To wake up in the morning with bright yellow hangings around her bed and girls she didn't know giggling about something was not nice - especially when she had no idea what they were talking about as they babbled nonsense about the Wizarding war. Jamie felt sorry for Rubi being stuck in that house with Carey, the weird nutter from the forest.

"I know, Rubi!" Jamie giggled and hugged her sister quickly. "Its so horrible, I woke up this morning on my own with the other girls talking about wizard stuff and I wish you'd been there! Im not used to sleeping in a bed on my own, I normally cuddle up next to you to stay warm and feel safe, but I had to sleep with my teddy last night and he's not very warm." Jamie was un-ashamed of her teddy.

October was late. She was never late. She just got lost. As she entered the classroom she made no attempted to make any noise. But that never seems to happen. She made her way to a seat in the second row. Sitting down she looked around. It was a big room which would help her day dreaming. Some how she always managed to get good grades even though she spent most of every lesson day dreaming.

PostSubject: Re: Lesson One - First Years -    Lesson One - First Years - EmptyTue Apr 17, 2012 3:15 am

Carey walked into class, feeling to be in an overall decent mood. He had a good feeling about transfiguration, he had a bit of practice in it before coming to school. With all the parties and hosting evens his mother threw, there was often a lot of decorating that needed charming and transfiguration. He always like transfiguration better than charms though. She'd let him use her wand sometime if she was busy with something else, or doing something she didn't require a wand for.

He sighed as he made his way to a set in the middle, seeing those...twins. He furrowed his eyebrows and grit his teeth, hearing one of them complaining about being in slytherin. There was nothing wrong with his house. Just something wrong with her. The idiot.

He smiled a little bit, hearing the other girl complain about having trouble sleeping and having a...Teddy? Seriously?? He couldn't help but et out a small laugh at hearing that. How stupid.

Jamie had reached over and grabbed Rubi's hand to give it a light squeeze. "Slytherin's not so bad, I mean... everyone says it is but you're in it so it can't be that bad?" Jamie dropped Rubi's hand and looked back to the front of the classroom. Her eyes flicked sideways as Carey entered the room and she frowned. Even his mere presence made her want to slap him across the face, he was such an annoying boy.

She whipped around as he laughed when she mentioned her teddy. She was not ashamed to have her teddy, they were a great comfort and her mother had a teddy! Her mother was a lot older than herself! She knew that plenty of girls had a teddy, even 18 year old ones. Teddies were very important. She stood up, stormed over to him and slammed her hand down on the table. The confidence that she only got when in the presence of this irritating boy arose to her now, and she frowned at him. "Got a problem with me and my teddy, have you?" She growled.

He raised his eyebrows at her as she whipped around, a smug and amused expression on his face. So easy to rile up. But so was he. He still didn't know which was which though. They acted much the same to him.

When she slammed her hand down on the desk, Carey furrowed his eyebrows. He sneered at her growling. "Stop acting like such an animal, for Merlin's sake."

He then smirked. "Actually yes." He laughed a bit. "It's stupid. Only babies have 'teddies' " he said in the most condescending tone he could muster.

Jamie huffed indignantly at Carey, she wasn't acting like an animal! This boy was so irritating, and she took a step away from her desk. With her arms crossed, she stared down at him with a look that matched his own holier-than-thou look. He was so frustrating, and she couldn't remember ever being angrier than she was around him.

"I am not acting like an animal! And by the way, I don't care if I was
wrong about the magic thing, didn't you break a wizarding law by telling me about magic?" She raised an eyebrow at him.

Jamie smiled at him and patted him on the cheek. "Whatever you say sweetheart. Boys don't have the sentimental attachment to teddies that a girl have." She resisted the urge to flip him the finger and stormed back over to her seat beside Rubi. "Argh! He is so frustrating." She huffed.

Rubi smiled softly at Jamie. "I didn't like waking up without you there either. It was just green all around. The house is lucky I like the color," she joked, wanting Jamie to feel better.

She looked up when Carey walked into the classroom as well. She narrowed her eyes. Then he snorted at Jamie having a teddy, and she was about to snap, but Jamie beat her to it. Her twin walked over and smacked her hand on his desk, practically yelling at him to get it together. Rubi didn't like the retorts Jamie got, but she didn't interfere; it seemed like this was a battle Jamie could easily handle on her own. When she came back, Rubi smirked at her.

"Well look who grew up," she whispered softly, punching Jamie's arm playfully.

Jamie giggled at Rubi. She wasn't all that fond of green, but she knew that Rubi did like the colour after all. She adored pale yellow - which made being a Hufflepuff difficult as their yellow was bright gold, but she could stand it. "I like being a Hufflepuff and all, but bright yellow? I prefer pale yellow." Jamie pointed out.

Once she'd taken her seat again, she grinned at Rubi and blushed bright red. She was so used to Rubi fighting her battles that she was surprised she'd stood up for herself even when she could've sat back and allowed Rubi to fight the battle for her.

"Its just him, he makes me feel so angry that I forget to be shy." Jamie said in a dismissive tone as she smiled softly at Rubi.

He scowled at her. "Well you're damn well growling like one." he snapped back at her.

When she asked about him breaking the wizarding law he became flustered. As far as he knew no letter came, but technically....he had. He certainly did get the scolding from his father. "Shut up! I...I did not! Only if you were a muggle- which you aren't so...."

When she pat his cheek, he swatted her hand away. "Don't touch me! It's still stupid-" he groaned as she turned away and glared at the two girls as she sat back down and they talked amongst themselves.

Meliae was 11 year old girl she was new to this country and this school. She was known for her frail look she look rather nice. She had gotten quiet that is and well she was no longer dirty hair look but her hair was still shiny and neat looking because of Carey mother. That is she got the ravenclaw house for some reason though she was still learning English and she was not too sure as she look down at the paper she seemed drawing some type. She was silent as ever she drawing a picture of her older sister she one year older.

She had dark hair not her but she had the look of her mother some what in face but her hair was dark with pig tails with braids. Then as she thought of the past she did this designs that she was on the swing the two shared the swing together. She was so quiet that is and she heard the two talk and fight among themselves but she relatively quiet as she seat there doing that drawing.

Then she relatively quiet that was not good thing or bad thing she look up at the teacher waiting for the teacher to say something that they get start or something.

Lesson One - First Years - Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lesson One - First Years -    Lesson One - First Years - EmptyWed Apr 18, 2012 7:18 am

Alcyone had taken her seat after writing on the board and smiled as the students walked in. She was glad that quite a few were interested in taking her class, and so she looked back down to her notes for the lesson and scribbled down on a piece of parchment. She was almost ready to start the lesson as all of her students had arrived, when the Hufflepuff girl mentioned a teddy, and her own Slytherin student riled her up. They began to fight, and Alcyone was glad that the other Slytherin who was her identical only watched. She stood up and walked over to the two, standing in between their desks.

She coughed and rested her hands on her hips, looking between the Hufflepuff who was now seated and the Slytherin. "Now, now, thats quite enough. Both of you will have detention for this display. You have it tomorrow night, in this classroom. You both are lucky I didn't take off points." She fixed the Slytherin boy with an extra disappointed look before she walked back to the front and smiled at them all.

"Today, we're going to be turning needles into matchsticks," she walked around and placed a needle on each of their desk before walking over to her blackboard and scribbling down instructions as she spoke. "First step, you must turn to page 112 of your A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration books and use this as a more detailed guide. Secondly, practice the wrists movements. Third step, practice pronouncing it. Finally, try this on the needle. The wrist movement is a simple upwards flick and swish," she demonstrated. "Then, you combine this with the word 'Arcanum Verto'. Make sure you say it VARE- toe. Not var- to, VARE- toe. Ar-ka-nu-m Vare-toe." She moved behind her desk, set out a needle and performed this spell on the needle, effectively turning it into a matchstick. "Your turn."

Jamie blushed beet red as their Professor Malfoy came over to them and gave her detention. She felt her eyes widen and tears prick them as she looked down at her hands shamefully. She'd only been in trouble twice before, and now on her first day at Hogwarts she had detention! She was so embarrassed she felt she might die on the spot. Once the professor had returned to the front, she turned around and sent a deadly glare towards him. She then turned back to the front and vowed that she would always hate this boy for getting her in trouble all because he thought that having a teddy was stupid. She clenched her fists and pulled out her wand and did as told stiffly. She watched as the needle quivered and turned into a silver matchstick. "Arcanum Verto." She snapped again as she flicked her wrist upwards and swished her wand.

Rubi sighed slightly when she heard that Jamie had gotten a detention, but she figured it was better than loosing house points, on both accounts. Carey was in her house after all. She didn't want him to lose points. She then listened closely to what professor Malfoy was explaining and then took out her wand. She looked down at the book's explanation and then performed the flick and a swish. "Arcanum Vare-toe," she pronounced to herself, and continued trying to pronounce it correctly before daring to try it on the needle.

"Arcanum Verto," she said firmly, but except the fact that the needle broke, no match was lying before her. She groaned. She was horrible at this, she had known from the minute she learned what Transfiguration was, that she would suck at it, to put it rudely. And she was right. Maybe her attitude had something to do with it, but she didn't care. She looked at a new needle with a deathglare and tried again. It quivered this time, and that set courage to her.

She tried again, but not before she tried for the seventh time, she managed to change it into a match. She smiled widely and looked at Jamie. "Seven is the magical number, you know," she said happily.

PostSubject: Re: Lesson One - First Years -    Lesson One - First Years - EmptySat Apr 21, 2012 1:58 am

Meliae Winters watch there petty attempt at what they where doing and she observed what they where doing wrong she watch them perform that is and what they where doing with the words and how they say there words.

Then Rubi said it Arcanum Verto and then still she had not moved to do anything with the match that is. She was horrible at doing it and such thing speaking with her tranfiguration and what they where doing . She look down and they got new needle and as she watch the twins and what they where doing she watch them make mistakes. Then she gather her thoughts within her head Then she said it within her head what the teacher had said within her head var- to, VARE- toe not Arcanum Verto. Then she was silent and she was saying it within her head and why she had not act right way and so she might be cheating right way as she collect on how to say the word correctly and that she must not say the way Greek might have said it. As she collect thought say within her head a few times.

Now to show these two what Greek could do and how strong despite being from another country she could do the same things. Now the moment of truth she practice wrist moment before she did anything and she continue three times. Then she collect her thoughts and she was watching the other student it might be the cheater way and watching the mistake they did and finally she did.

Arcanum Verto toe She said those magical words that and she did her best to visualize the match changing shape and she visualize turning into match stick with her mind such as she did that as and she add that too it as well as that. That she hope would happened and when it finally happen she had not jab it much she was so gentle yes and when she cause it shape and then finally it finally made shape that it was match she told her match and in which case that she could light the house up if her parents did caught up with her. Then she look back at the the magic spell and such things with the spells. That it turn into matchstick she had watch the twins make the mistakes and such things which she seemed smiled at that.

PostSubject: Re: Lesson One - First Years -    Lesson One - First Years - EmptySat Apr 21, 2012 2:52 am

Hannah was dreadfully nervous and her stomach was full of tight knots. It had taken her at least ten minutes and the help of an older boy to get her off the moving stair she's had to use to get to class after breakfast. Her books clasped tightly in her right hand she walked with her shoulder pressed tight against the wall for security her cane tip-tapping right-left right-left before her. She gave a small squeak of fright when the wall suddenly disappeared. Moving her cane into the open space she swung it back and forth slightly as she examined the doorway. She sincerely hoped that she had the right room this time.

Tip-toeing in as though afraid of instantaneously being rebuked she felt a slight jar run up her arm and a heart thump as she found the leg of a table. "Hello?" she whispered softly. At receiving no reply she cautiously tapped about until she found the seat. Placing her books down she sat. Had been quite a time for she and her step-mum Sarah as they searched for hours for course books in braille, but she had them now and treasured them more than anything. '⠞⠗⠁⠝⠎⠋⠊⠛⠥⠗⠁⠞⠊⠕⠝' 'Transfiguration' read the front page.

Alcyone looked up as she realised it was time to end the lesson, and she wandered around the classroom to see everyone's progress. It was with pride that the first student to accomplish anything was from her own house - Rubi Wright, she believed. Alcyone picked up the matchstick and displayed it to everyone with a smile on her face. "Now look here, this is absolutely perfect. As first person to get it right I award Slytherin 5 points. That's all for the lesson everyone," she placed the matchstick down and walked back up to the front. "Carey, Jamie, you have detention here tomorrow night at 7, don't keep me waiting."
