| The late afternoon sun shone brightly into David's office, swamping the room with golden light. His sister, a snow leopard for the moment, sat on the sofa, her head on her paws. She was watching the rays go down, David knew she was counting every last second till the full moon rose up. Excitement bubbled in the pit of his own belly as the day was drawing to a close.
David sat at his desk, supposedly working on lesson plans and spell drafts for the next term, realistically distracted from his work by the sunlight and mingling thoughts about the curse. He'd keep searching the universe if he had to. Anything for his sister.
He glanced over at her big, lean cat form. It was so different seeing her like that, knowing that ferocious cat was really his deft, intelligent sister. David had gotten slightly used to it though, seeing as they'd been searching for close on eight years now. The Beauxbatons' Library was one of his last resorts.
Just as he was turning back to his desk, the door to David's office swung open. He stared in surprise, then mentally slapped himself when he saw who it was. |

| Artemis knew that he was going to ask David something. But he had forgot everything once he walked into his office. He then seen a snow leopard lying on the sofa. This was something that he wasn’t expecting to see. And the fact that he had no idea what to say, was making him look more like an idiot.
He then continued to stare at the snow leopard. “ I was going to ask you something, but I forgot what it was.” |

| Ella watched the rays of sunlight, counting each second in anticipation until there would be no light left. She was content, lying on her brother's sofa, waiting for her one night of humanity again.
The door swung open and immediately wrenched Ella-May from her thoughts. Her eyes, still brown in leopard form, trained on to the man at the doorway. He was tall, slender, and had long, dark hair. But she didn't know why he was staring at her and it made her nervous.
Glancing back out the window, she saw the sun was starting to disappear beyond the horizon. It was almost time, but that man was standing there, talking to her brother. She looked anxiously at Davi, she couldn't transform while he was there! |

| David stood up, putting on a slightly stiff demeanor. They couldn't afford anyone else knowing about Ella - least not while she was still here. He didn't want her cast out to the forest just yet. Maybe in a week or so.
"Artemis," he greeted calmly, taking note of the fixation he had with his sister. He glanced at his sister, only to note the anxiety in her eyes. This was her one night of the month where she could be human. David wasn't going to let anyone spoil that for her.
"This is Ella-May," he said, gesturing to the leopard on the couch. "She's my... companion." David knew she wouldn't appreciate being called a pet, as she wasn't, so he called her the only thing he knew her elsewise as.
David glanced discreetly out the window to the fading light. "Do you think you could sleep on it and ask me in the morning?" |

| Artemis was still watching her. He had no idea why he couldn’t take his eyes away from her. There was something about her that was drawing his attention. It was the fact there was a snow leopard.
He then smiled as he said her name. “ Hello Ella-May.” Artemis was still smiling. “ Companion?” It made a little bit of sense to him.
“ I mean I guess I could go sleep on it and come back in the morning.” |

| Ella-May cast a sharp glance at her brother when he called her his 'companion', glad he'd used that instead of 'pet'. She slid off the couch and padded slowly over to the window, standing on her hind legs and leaning against it. The sun was almost fully down now. It wouldn't be long.
She turned back and locked eyes with David. There was no way they were going to get Artemis out by the time she was going to transform. |
