Jackie's family hates her. Thay always have, ever since she was born. She was raised with constant snide remarks, hurtful retorts, insults, never a drop of love. Her mother always scraped at Jackie's appearance, calling her 'ugly', a 'monster', an 'abomination'. Her brothers and father always shunned her, made her feel unwanted. Because of the way she was raised, Jackie can no longer bare to so much as glance into a mirror for fear of seeing the monster she is supposed to be. Jackie refuses to accept that she is in any way beautiful, even though she is stunningly so. She just can't see it. Many times she broke down when she was younger, but although the tortuous words hit her full-force, Jackie escaped to the gardens, sometimes for hours on end, where she comforted herself by walking through the many colourful plants that amazed her with their beauty. She always dreamed to be as pretty as the flowers she saw. After all the years of torment, Jackie refused to back down and become cold or distant. Instead, she managed to make herself into an exceptionally kind, loyal and happy person.
