James was born in a typical middle-class family in London with a mother working in the Muggle world as a physician and his father working as a journalist of the Daily Prophet.

His life was what a typical life would be expected to be. At eleven he went to Hogwarts and found that while he wasn't the best at everything, dueling was his strong point, and he began his internship with the Daily Prophet during his last year.

At the age of 20 he managed to work under his father as a reporter and managing editor, and when his father retired, he found himself taking over his spot. Now at 27 he has to deal with a lot of stress when it comes to his job, but does not regret a thing because he loves his job.
