| Pyxis' hand-shaking problem was getting better since the date with Anscom. She was conflicted on her feelings between him and Parker, but she knew now most certainly was not the time to be dwelling on feelings. She swung around on her chair and rested her hands on the desk, looking at the door as a few students trickled in. Slowly but surely, her class was soon filled and she stood up. She walked straight to the blackboard that was situated behind her desk and picked up a piece of chalk. She hated the feeling of chalk, and the sound it made against a blackboard sent shivers down her spine. She bit down on her lower lip and cringed as she began to write on the board in her neat scribble. As she wrote, she could feel the scars on her back sting from her back muscles moving as she reached up her arm. She cringed again, this time for a reason not due to writing on the board, before she continued on as if nothing had happened. Pyxis motioned to the centre of the room, where a table was set up with four mortars. "You're to get out some parchment," she said in a cold tone. "And inspect the crushed powder. It's all ingredients you used last year, so don't give me any crap that you can't be expected to know the ingredient because you've never used it. To help you though, the four ingredients you have to choose from are; snake fangs, a bezoar, valerian sprigs and porcupine quills. Once you're done, but your parchment on my desk and you'll get them back next lesson." She turned and sat down on her chair, pulling out her quill and scribbling back a letter to the ministry regarding her safety. [[OOC: Because i'm mean, i'm going to make you all randomly guess and people who guess right win points. xD ]] |

| Today they would be trying to identify different powders, and Humphrey hoped that he would get at least one right. Looking at the board, he read the instructions and wrote down Mortar 1, 2, 3, and 4 on a piece of parchment. Now it was time to see if he could figure this out.
Walking over to the first mortar, Humphrey looked at the powder. It was fairly dark in color, his guess was going to be bezoar. He remembered that it was almost black in color, a dark brown from last year. So, he wrote that down next to Mortar 1 and moved on.
Mortar 2 was a much lighter color, looked to be a pale blue. Valerian sprigs was the only thing he could come up with. Humphrey was really hoping one of these would be right, but to be honest he wasn't sure. Writing down Valerian Sprigs next to Mortar 2, he tried to enjoy himself. At least they didn't have to write essays or anything like that.
The next mortar, number three, was a tricky one. Snake fangs and porcupine quills were what he had left to guess, and he couldn't remember what either looked like in powder form. This was an almost white in color, so he decided to write snake fangs next to Mortar 3.
Striding over to the last one, Mortar 4, Humphrey examined it. Did it look like porcupine quills, it was kind of a grayish color. He shrugged, and just wrote down porcupine quills. Well, he was finished, time to turn it in. Humphrey handed his piece of parchment to Professor Wilson, and returned to his seat.

| Jamie looked up at the board as Professor Wilson wrote on it and noted that she was back. She wondered where she'd gone for the last week of school, but it wasn't her business so she shrugged and sat down next to Humphrey. She gave him a friendly smile as he was the first in the classroom with her, and she looked around as other people filed in. "Hey, Humphrey," she greeted him and looked back to the front as the Professor began to talk. She bent over and retrieved a piece of parchment from a bag, and her quill. She'd bought a special one, one that didn't constantly need to be dipped in ink but rather held ink inside it. Kind of like a pen, but in feather form. She brushed her hair out of her face and set up her stuff patiently on the desk. Finally, Professor Wilson stopped talking and she stood up quickly, looking over at the mortar's. She walked to the desk in the middle of the classroom and looked in Mortar 1.
It was a dark colour, she noted immediately as she scribbled down what was written on the board. She then reached out a finger and poked the crushed powder. Slightly crumbly and rough, she tapped her nose and thought to herself. She moved it to her nose and sniffed, remembering breathing in that scent before she added it to her cauldron. She knew what it was straight enough, and wrote down 'Bezoar' next to Mortar 1. To make sure though, she tapped it again and rubbed a pinch between her thumb and fore-finger. She nodded her head, the colour gave it away too, showing that it was a Bezoar or Porcupine Quills. However, the smell was nothing like porcupine quills. She nodded her head and turned to the second one.
After she'd inspected the texture, smells and looks of each one, she began to scribble down what she thought each was. The colours of them gave away a lot, and the smell that she'd always noticed accompanied each as she was using them the previous year. She was proud of her list as she sat down and scribbled the rest. Once she'd finished, she stood up and placed the sheet on the desk, before sitting back down. And there was still a couple of minutes until the end of the lesson. She turned and grinned at Humphrey. "How were your holidays?" She asked.

| Jamie sat next to him after finishing the lesson, grinning at him. The only thing to do was grin back, so he did. "Mine were decent enough, did a lot of painting. To be honest though, I was kind of lonely. Really missed Olivia a lot. How were your holidays?" Humphrey asked quietly. He didn't want to disturb the students still finishing the lesson. |

| Alexis didn't want to go to any of her lessons that week, she simply wasn't in a very good mood. It showed clearly, too, as her arms were crossed and a frown was set on her features. She glared at anyone who looked at her and huffed as she walked into the classroom. She took a seat at the back and almost groaned as they had to stand up again. Her attempts at identifying each individual ingredient were pathetic, and she wrote down whatever the colour went best with.
She just really didn't care. She walked up to the front and placed the sheet on the desk, a sour look on her face as she stormed to the back of the classroom. She ran a hand through her hair and pulled out her parchment, scribbling down some writing on it. She folded it up and placed it back in her bag to send off to a friend who was attending Urelic later. |

| Ethan entered the room. He sat on one of the seats and listened to Professor Wilson's instructions. She seemed to be very strict today. He shrugged and took a piece of parchment just after the professor gave the instructions. He went over to the table and peered at the mortars.
He wasn't very good at this, but then he decided he'll just give it a try. He looked at Mortar One and reached out a finger and took small amount. It look dark, but darker when close enough, and it smelled a lot like Bezoar. He wrote down his answer. On to Mortar Two.
Ethan reached out a finger and took another small amount. It looked slightly lighter than the Bezoar. He moved it up near his nose and smelled it. It smelled and felt like Porcupine Quills, but then he wasn't even sure. He slightly shrugged and wrote down his answer.
Mortar Three. He reached out a finger once more and took a small amount. It was lighter--white, actually--and it didn't really smell of venom. He decided it was the Snake Fangs.
The last mortar, the Fourth, was the easiest. Valerian Springs was the only one left. But then he decided to check. He took a small amount and smelled it. It was blue violet, and it smelled a lot like Valerian Springs. He wrote it down.
Mortar One: Bezoar Mortar Two: Porcupine Quills Mortar Three: Snake Fangs Mortar Four: Valerian Springs |
