Basil pulled the best looking broom out of the over-stuffed cupboard. He didn't elect flying as a lesson this year, mainly because he didn't think he'd enjoy learning about it. He'd play Quidditch next year, though. That would be fun, Basil thought.

Basil lugged the old broom onto the pitch and swung his leg over it, kicking off lightly. He hovered in the air and urged the broom forwards at a crawl at the same height and brought his legs up. It legitimately felt like he was flying, and Basil grinned. Best feeling, he said to himself.

He shoved his legs back down and started to rise higher into the sky. Basil wrapped his legs around the broomstick and let go with his hands. He was hanging upside down, his shirt falling over his face a bit. He grinned, this felt pretty cool too. Basil laughed with delight, this was fun as! He would have to show it to the next friend he made.

Danielle walked down to the Qudditch pitch. She needed to get off the ground for a while. There was this really annoying ghost hunting her, and she didn't like it. She wanted to vanish, but she had to deal with it, as always. She really just wanted to be one of the normal people who could do whatever they wanted, who could trust, and who didn't see death wherever they went. She clenched her teeth and walked to the broom closet. She picked out the one she had used in the lessons, a Nimbus 2012. It was pretty new and fresh, though it had nothing on the Firebolt 2000 apparently. She shrugged and swung her leg over it.

She kicked off the ground and sped up as fast as she could, flying in circles for a while before shooting upwards and seeing a person above her. She screamed in shock, and just managed to swing the broom out of his way. She straightened up and hovered, catching her breath. That had been a bit too scary for her to like. She then pointed downwards and flew to apologize when she realized she knew him. It was Basil. And he was hanging upside down.

She flew up to him. "Hey Bas," she said with a slight smile. "Sorry about that, I didn't know you were here," she said softly, "And you do realize you're hanging upside down, right?" she added curiously.

Basil glanced down in surprise when there was a scream below him, only to see a blonde head zoom out of his way. It seemed someone had almost run into him. Basil scanned the area and his eyes fell on a familiar face, but a scared one at that.

"Dani!" he said. Basil grinned at her, still hanging upside down (like a boss). "Ah, yes. I do realise that. It happens to be very entertaining," Basil said cheekily, a glint in his eye that shone with a dare, saying JOIN ME!

Basil, still upside down, grabbed his broom by the neck and started shaking it. He was feeling surprisingly confident today, it was so amusing. He should come down here more often.

"What are you doing here?" Basil asked Dani, stopping shaking his broom and righting himself to talk to her.

Dani had to laugh slightly at him. She then speculated for a second, before locking her feet together and swung down, joining him in the hanging upside down thing. She felt super light for a second, before the blood flew to her head and she felt her head thumping. But it was a good thump. She laughed heartily. This was fun.

She sighed deeply and grinned before she noticed that her shirt was slipping down. She straightened up and fixed it quickly. She really didn't want people to see how skinny she was. It was enough trouble as it was. She didn't need others to worry. She then looked at the swinging Bas with a new smile. "Headrush," she excused.

She sighed. "Flying is relaxing and freeing. I pretty much just had to get out of the castle. It was getting a bit crowded. How about you?" she asked kindly.

Basil grinned widely when Dani joined him upside down, laughing. She had a really nice laugh. Basil laughed with her.

Her shirt started to slip down, but luckily she caught it and tucked it in so it wouldn't again. But Basil had seen a flicker of worry cross her face, and a glimpse of her waist. She seemed incredibly thin, but he couldn't be sure. He'd only seen a glimpse. She excused herself with a headrush, and he smiled. "Love those things, surprisingly enough. They feel weird," he laughed.

Basil nodded thoughtfully. "I think I was just bored, you know? And I was kinda hoping to meet some people down here - new friends! I love meeting new people."

Danielle rose an eyebrow. "Headrushes? That's new," she said with a grin, "Not really my favorite thing, though it does depend on how I get them. This wasn't so bad actually, but waking up early and rising to quickly from the bed, is not a nice headrush," she said jokingly.

Her grin widened. "Yeah, meeting new people is great," she agreed, though friends was more out of her reach. She just didn't have friends, she didn't make them at all. She might be good at conversing with people, but she was too stoic and maybe even cold when it came to her emotions. Her mother said she was a high-functioning sociopath, which apparently wasn't a bad thing, but Dani had searched it up and knew she wasn't as she hated it when people died, and the fact that she was still in grief over losing her cousin.

"Hey, how about a race?" she asked, a smirk spreading on her lips.

Basil grinned and shook his head, chuckling. "You got that right. I don't like waking up full stop," he joked back.

Baz kept up his smile on the outside, but inside his thoughts were racing. Why didn't she mention new friends? Why just new people? But then the more important thought hit him... Does she actually have any friends? Basil couldn't remember seeing anyone hang out with Dani. In fact, she seemed quite the bit of a loner.

His own grin widened as he made a pact with himself. I'll be her friend if it's the last thing I do.

"Huh?" Basil said, brought out of his thoughts abruptly. "Oh. You're on!" He smirked and leaned forward on his broom, preparing. "On the count of three?"

Danielle smiled softly at him. She then looked down, wishing she hadn't. She wasn't scared of heights, but there were always people there, down on the field when she was flying. It was like they were waiting for her to come back down so they could pester her.

When Baz' smile widened, Dani knew that something had settled in his mind. She just didn't know what. But he had a look of utter determination. She didn't comment on it, of course, that would be prying, and she didn't pry; it lead to friendships. She didn't want friends. They were always there, and then, when she would tell them secrets, they would spread them. She pushed the thoughts away and leaned forward like Basil had.

"Great. Around the pitch and back here then? One ... two ... THREE!" she yelled and shot forward, Basil right next to her. She then simply focused on the way she was flying and took the necessary turns, shooting forward like a bullet.
